pinkcanary ::: Favorites I take issue with your assertion that Israel wantonly and arbitrarily takes 'Palestinian' lives with no repercussions. Israel is a sovereign nation which is surrounded by neighbours all of whom, at one time or another, have declared its destruction to be their collective objective. The Arabs have cynically placed the Palestinians into the center of their propaganda war with Israel. Israel is the reason for your misery!! 07-10-11 11:56:04 __________________________________________________
pinkcanary ::: Favorites But your main point is that you see an oppressed people who are subject to intolerable conditions. It is true that the Palestinian 'refugees' are in a unique position. Never, in the history of the world, has there been a 60 year refugee status for any group of people other than the 'Palestinians'. More than 500,000 Jews fled from persecution in Arab countries and yet there are no Jewish refugees. How come? 07-10-11 11:54:33 __________________________________________________
pinkcanary ::: Favorites It is simply propaganda to try and equate Israel with Nazism, and so I am grateful that you relegate such nonsense to the scrapheap of Arab propaganda. There is no wall behind the Palestinians. If only the Nazis had built such concentration camps! I am sure that that many more human lives would have been saved by simply walking the other way. 07-10-11 11:54:11 __________________________________________________
pinkcanary ::: Favorites Uberskeptic, since the construction of the wall, suicide attacks have fallen. The wall is a symptom, not the root. Protecting Israeli lives, is, IMO, just as valid an objective as being able to farm. mulenga99 tries a deft sleight of hand when he says that the wall goes 'around' the Palestinians. And yet some lazy thinkers will accept that nonsense and go 'yeah... Jews are building concentration camps.' 07-10-11 11:53:40 __________________________________________________
guybrush122 ::: Favorites PLUS: Elie Wiesel is not being an apologist for Israel. He's simply saying; "look, we still hate. We still kill." That applies to everyone who hates, and who kills. From Israelis to Palestinians to Americans to X, Y, Z. He's talking about humanity, not specific conflict. 07-10-09 03:37:15 __________________________________________________
guybrush122 ::: Favorites Same old argument from both sides. Guess what? The Palestinians treat the Israelis horrendously. The Israelis? They treat the Palestinians horrendously. And further, you're not going to be able to find out an answer for "who started it" that isn't extraordinarily debatable. Here's my position: You can't really take a side in the Israel/Palestine conflict. Because it's all terrible violence and atrocities, of equal cruelty on either side, with ridiculous bullshit rationalizations attached. 07-10-09 03:36:43 __________________________________________________
uberskeptic ::: Favorites So, while the Nazi comparison may be off point, just because the Palestinian occupation does not fit the same profile does nto render it acceptable. There are varying degrees of evil and illegal/racist/oppressive occupation certainly fits under one of them. 07-10-09 02:40:14 __________________________________________________
uberskeptic ::: Favorites You believe there are individuals who volunteer to live in constant fear, under intermittant and inconsistent curfews and blackouts, with some of the worst access to clean water in the world while 'the chosen ones' water their green grass mere miles away; all this to be a political tool for others? Millions of individuals, spread over three generations, sacrificing their lives for the political gain of countries they've never been to and governments they do not live under? I reject this. 07-10-09 02:39:41 __________________________________________________
uberskeptic ::: Favorites HOWEVER, there is currently a wall blocking Palestinians from tending to their own land and fields as promised to them by International law. The Wall is far over the Green line in many areas. Palestinians may not be shipped off systematically to their deaths, but Israel has enjoyed the ability to kill Palestinians with impunity from the International community. This idea of Palestinians being 'self-imposed' refugees on their own land is so ridiculous I am not going to glorify it with comment. 07-10-09 02:30:52 __________________________________________________
uberskeptic ::: Favorites Alright PinkCanary, I feel an aching desire to correct your poor reasoning here. While I agree that the persecution of the Palestinians has not crossed into the same category as the worst genocide of our time, and though there is rarely much point in placing idiosyncratic world events along a spectrum of bad to worse, it is clear that the Palestinian position is not as bad as Nazi Germany. 07-10-09 02:28:48 __________________________________________________ |
