Description: A male Saturnia albofasciata moth emerges from its cocoon in time lapse. The cocoon has been partially cut away to observe development and movement and doesn't seem to bother the moth. After he emerges he expands his wings by pumping a body fluid into them. The music is "The Voice" by Technician. jcmegabyte ::: Favorites  2007-11-12 12:02:51 It takes the moth about 5-8 minutes to emerge from the cocoon, and the wing expansion takes 20-30 minutes. There's a 30-40 minute delay between full expansion and when the moth "flattens-out", i.e. unfolds his wings from over his back near the end of the video. The whole process is complete in less than 2 hours. __________________________________________________
