You can defend and promote your beliefs and positions without going off the deep end. I don't understand why people are lazy and quick to buy into hyperbole and labels instead of studying the issues. It's human nature, I guess. This can exist on both sides. I want to encourage the weak-minded to actually get some knowledge for themselves and learn how to form their own opinions and articulate those opinions with others. These things would make communication and debate more civilized and intelligent.
