The Challenger Deep (the deepest part of the Marianas Trench) was reached by the bathyscaph Treiste with two crewmen aboard quite a number of years ago.

Didn't we finnaly just get to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, (don't think I spelt that correctly). I heard it was quantity not quality for the sea life at the bottom. I always figured the deeper the larger the animal, especially with the amount of waste that falls to the floor. Imagined giant muscles that cleaned the bottoms. Guess its probably just numerous smaller organisms. :(
