Description: Differences from other film adaptations Director Joe Wright was the only P&P director to use complex, sweeping tracking shots that last several minutes, travel through multiple rooms, and highlight the different activities of many people. This technique creates a strong feeling of exploring an entire era in one location. This was the first adaption to cast a leading actress who was Elizabeth's age, 20. [edit] Changes between release versions The American release version included a final scene (not in the novel) of the married Darcys enjoying a romantic evening at Pemberley. This ending did not test well with British audiences, so it was cut for UK and international release. The British version ends with Mr. Bennet's blessing upon Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy's union, thus circumventing the last chapter in the novel, which summarizes the lives of the Darcys and the other main characters over the next several years. In theaters, the British version also included a brief scene showing the Darcys and the Bingleys emerging from a small church and entering a carriage after their double wedding. |

Elemmirien ::: Favorites 2007-12-19 03:08:36 I have watched this version of P&P so far and it so doesn't carry the spirit from the book. The version of 1995 is much much better imho as well as the selection of actors. All the dresses and haircuts do look too modern for that time, as well as the manners. Thank you for uploading all versions littlespot, it's very interesting to compare them :) __________________________________________________
mencken ::: Favorites 2007-12-12 20:53:26 Wow. I've been variously depressed and apprehensive at natural male stupidity, but I have to admit I've taken heart to know women are just as clunking idiots as we are: if you can't SEE that he's an officious, crabbed twit, or more likely you're simply willing to see it (as so many women are to men they truly fancy), well I guess it's human nature. __________________________________________________
Judith1107 ::: Favorites 2007-12-12 09:39:34 Darcy is a perfect gentleman, he's in no way written officiously, as you state, and he's not cold, either, in the book, as the story continues, reason are given for his so called offensive behaviour, and often, he seems more right in his opinions than not. Added to the fact in the movie, he's cute, and has a beautiful accent :p __________________________________________________
mencken ::: Favorites 2007-12-10 06:03:27 Ok, I've got to ask- what is it with Colin? No, no, actually, Darcy. I mean Darcy; he seems a cold, officious little prick the way he's written, and I've yet to meet a woman who didn't fantasize about him. As in serious, sexual fantasy. It gives me bad ideas about how to treat women, I must say. __________________________________________________
Nadine91273 ::: Favorites 2007-12-07 05:39:41 Don't throw pearls to the swine dear. We know Colin is king. __________________________________________________
Nadine91273 ::: Favorites 2007-12-07 05:32:12 I was wondering when they were going to fix her hair. Living in the country did not mean you were all out bumpkin, they are supposed to be upper middle class. __________________________________________________
